Here's a picture of our 2014 Trail Life Grand Prix champion car designed by Andrew. Last night was our first Grand Prix with over 40 racers, two hours of heats, 7 divisional winners with three Trailmen taking home a trophy. Great job Trailmen! You raced worthy!
Tomorrow's race has been postponed to Monday, April 28th due to rain in the forecast. Race will take place at 6:30pm Monday night at our normal meeting place - Live Oak.
Cars still need to be turned in tomorrow (Saturday April 26th) at Grovecenter from 7:30-8:00 near room 18. This past weekend 18 people from our Troop journeyed to the Mojave desert to enjoy food, fellowship, hiking, climbing, high winds and lots of adventure. We arrived Friday afternoon at the Hole in the Wall campground, hiked the Ring Loop and enjoyed the SoCal TLUSA campfire hosted by Troop 703.
That night winds up to 40 mph battered our poor tents and sleeping was a major challenge. Saturday we hiked several miles and returned for a tasty troop potluck dinner. That night the winds picked up to at least 50 mph with a few families sleeping in their vehicles. When the sun rose Sunday morning we made breakfast, packed up, drove to the Veteran's Memorial Cross, ate lunch at Mad Greek in Baker and eventually found the amazing yet elusive lava tube. Most of us arrived at home very late Sunday night, full of desert dust and tons of lasting memories. Below is a picture from the Rings Loop Trail. Early this morning, before baseball games and Saturday chores, several Troop 212 Trailmen and their parents joined with other youth organizations to clean up the trails in Glendora. The boys did a fine job using rakes, shovels and clippers. The Elderberry Trail is now wide and clean thanks to Troop 212 and AHG Troop 613.
Several Trailmen and their parents got up early last Saturday and hiked to Eaton Canyon Falls. We had a great time!
