We joined thousands of families across the nation to campout in the backyard in the midst of a national lockdown. A great time was had by all!
Families joined us in Rancho Cucamonga for a Minor League Quakes Games. It was the first time for many and everyone was entertained especially by the mascot.
During the first week of August, ten families enjoyed a week at Moraine Campground in Kings Canyon National Park. We played in the river, hiked, explored Boyden Cavern, toured the largest trees in the world (General Sherman and Grant), and enjoyed God's beautiful creation.
On Friday June 27th, older trailmen camped at Galster park. They cooked all the meals for the weekend and learned some valuable lessons on the "Trail". On Saturday, they were joined by a couple more dads and Woodlands Trailmen. We packed up and left Sunday morning.
It was a little warm but we had a great view of the valley and the boys had a blast.
SoCal Trail Life High Adventure is alive and well. Whether you want to car camp with the family, enjoy awesome activities at a Christian camp or go backpacking in the High Sierras we have options for you. Check out our new "Special Events" page for more details.
This past Friday night we embarked on a new adventure - night fishing! It was an exciting event with nearly 50 people in attendance. Our fishing experts were very busy helping the rest of us "rookies". Not a single fish was caught but lots of fun was had by all. The local wildlife even stopped by and welcomed us to Santa Fe dam.
This past weekend 18 people from our Troop journeyed to the Mojave desert to enjoy food, fellowship, hiking, climbing, high winds and lots of adventure. We arrived Friday afternoon at the Hole in the Wall campground, hiked the Ring Loop and enjoyed the SoCal TLUSA campfire hosted by Troop 703.
That night winds up to 40 mph battered our poor tents and sleeping was a major challenge. Saturday we hiked several miles and returned for a tasty troop potluck dinner. That night the winds picked up to at least 50 mph with a few families sleeping in their vehicles. When the sun rose Sunday morning we made breakfast, packed up, drove to the Veteran's Memorial Cross, ate lunch at Mad Greek in Baker and eventually found the amazing yet elusive lava tube. Most of us arrived at home very late Sunday night, full of desert dust and tons of lasting memories.
Below is a picture from the Rings Loop Trail.
We meet on Monday nights from 7-8:30 at Hope Christian Fellowship in San Gabriel, California. Our new year starts after Labor Day.
